Tampa Family Health Centers Launches New Pediatrics Residency Program in Partnership with NSU-KPCOM

Tampa Family Health Centers (TFHC) proudly announces the launch of its new Pediatrics Residency Program, sponsored by Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM). Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), this program is only the second community health center-based pediatrics residency in the country, addressing the critical need for accessible pediatric care in underserved communities while training the next generation of pediatricians.

The 3-year program led by TFHC’s Program Director Dr. Jenifer Haynes, provides residents with hands-on, comprehensive pediatric training at TFHC with access to specialized care through partnerships with AdventHealth Tampa, AdventHealth for Children: Tampa Pediatric Specialty Clinic, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, and various community subspecialists and patient resource organizations.

Residents will rotate through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings, ensuring exposure to a wide range of pediatric cases. This unique residency focuses on community health, equipping future pediatricians with the skills to serve diverse and underserved populations while benefiting from mentorship and leadership development from both TFHC and NSU-KPCOM faculty.

“Launching this Pediatrics Residency Program in partnership with NSU-KPCOM is a major milestone for Tampa Family Health Centers. We are honored to help shape the future of pediatric healthcare and support our community by training physicians who will make a lasting impact in the lives of children,” said Sherry Hoback, President and CEO of TFHC.

TFHC remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality care to all families in the Tampa Bay area. By training future pediatricians to address both everyday and complex pediatric health challenges, TFHC is leading the way in community health innovation.
